E-mark certification is a vehicle product certification system based on the technical quality standard (ECE Regulation) formulated by the Economic Commission for Europe and the European Union Directive. Authorized institutions inspect and certify vehicles and their main parts and components, and issue E-mark certificates to qualified products.

According to the ECE regulations of the Economic Commission for Europe and the EU EC Directive, all vehicles and their main parts and components that need to enter the market of its member countries must pass the corresponding E-mark certification test and production consistency inspection, and the corresponding E mark must be printed on the products, otherwise they will be detained by the customs and punished by the market supervision authority of the importing country, and the whole vehicle cannot be listed on the road.

The Economic Commission for Europe (ECE for short) is a subsidiary of the United Nations, not a European organization. Its member countries come from about 60 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and Oceania. E-mark certificates issued by any member state are mutually recognized by other member states. Since the abbreviation of the European Economic Commission is ECE, the European Union was formerly the European Economic Community (EEC), and later renamed the European Community (EC). E-mark certification is also known as ECE and EEC/EC certification.
